Outline

We've seen this error reported many different ways.

  • "When starting a build, the print bed will only go up about 3 inches, then it goes back down and I get the error message"
  • "After cleanup my printer fails during the leveling process. Upon close inspection, it appears that the sensor itself never touches the print surface. The nozzle looks like it either touches the surface or gets too close before the system fails."

Watch the videos below to see if this is happening to you.

Troubleshooting

  1. Go into the settings and manually jog it up and down, go up to a half inch from the nozzle, and then return it to its starting position. Do this a few times and see if the problem persists after that. If it doesn't, your lead screw got jammed somehow, and you had to jostle it free. You'll want to lubricate the lead screw if that is the issue.
  2. Try going into the settings and play with the level sensor, move it up and down a few times, and see if it'll go then.
  3. Take the printer apart, take the lead screw out, try it without the lead screw in. If the motor is the issue, you may just have to get a new one. ( this is not recommended by Polar, this instruction was provided by Dremel or another user)
  4. Try a factory reset.

Alternatively, you can download the firmware update from the Dremel website. Extract it to a usb and plug it into the printer. Restart the printer with the usb in it and run the update.

Try to toggle the switch to make sure the lever is not stuck in the up position, triggering the printer.
