Outline

If you're experiencing any of the following possible outcomes during the printing of your first layer:

  • No filament comes out of the nozzle because the nozzle is too close to the plate
  • Your parts stick too well to the build plate, and are very difficult to remove
  • Your parts dislodge from the build plate during your print, or never stick to the plate at all

...Then it's likely you need to adjust your printer's nozzle calibration! This is also called nozzle offset, toolhead offset, Z-offset, or other similar terms.

If the nozzle is too close to the bed.. there's no room for the filament to come out. If the nozzle is too far from the bed, the filament is not squished onto the bed, and has nothing to stick to.

To address this issue, go to:

  1. Tools
  2. Setting
  3. Calibration

    4. Wait while your printer makes some moves.

    5. Make adjustments in 0.1mm increments UP or DOWN to your nozzle offset.

If your nozzle is too close, move the arrow UP, so your number is larger and more positive.

If your nozzle is too far away, move the arrow DOWN, so your number is smaller and more negative.

Try another print and confirm that your nozzle offset is now correct! If you need to, just repeat the steps above and adjust.
